Maintenance Engineer
Job holder will carry out planned routine machine maintenance to ensure machine running time is maximised; carries out adhoc repairs and troubleshooting for machine breakdowns, maintaining adequate materials to avoid unnecessary machine downtime.
Person Specification
You must be time served to NVQ II in a production engineering, electrical or similar trade OR already have considerable experience in a factory or production environment in a similar role. It would be beneficial if candidates had some electrical experience or qualification, plus the ability to operate a range of production machinery, eg standard lathes, where in house parts are required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties will be as assigned.):
- Routine and Planned Preventative Maintenance - Follows set and planned programmes of routine machine maintenance as instructed by direct manager to maximise machine efficiency, running speeds and times, and to minimise all planned and unplanned machine downtime; maintains accurate records of all tasks performed, times taken and specific issues found/rectified to enable accurate updating of preventative maintenance programmes; identifies, rectifies wherever possible, and reports possible existing and future problems; Maintains and repairs any other specialist factory machinery in addition to standard CNC machines, lathes, etc.
- Diagnose mechanical problems - Investigates, identifies and rectifies as quickly as possible causes of machine breakdowns and running problems on a wide variety of CNC and other factory machinery. Works with other members of the team to solve ongoing or recurrent issues. Provides a troubleshooting service for all factory machinery and any recurrent or one off breakdowns.
- Accurately records maintenance and repair work performed in terms of time taken, parts and consumables used on a day to day and cumulative basis with the aim of closely monitoring, controlling and minimising costs incurred through machine downtime and breakdowns.
- Coordination of parts and consumables ordering with approved suppliers; maintains minimum and approved stock levels of essential parts and consumables; liaises with approved suppliers to ensure costs are strictly controlled at all times and sufficient stocks of critical spare parts are maintained at all times to avoid unnecessary machine down time.
- In house Production of Parts - operate a range of standard production machinery, eg standard lathes, to quickly manufacture in house any bespoke parts required for machine maintenance and to minimise machine downtime. This will involve the job holder also using a range of common hand and powered tools safely and according to company guidelines and instructions.
