MECHANICAL ASSEMBLY OPERATIVE

Main role and priorities will be in the Fitting area of factory, performing a variety of mechanical assembly and fitting duties as required and as instructed by his/her supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Other duties will be as assigned.):

  • Assembles components into finished products according to instruction and according to company quality standards and procedures; carries out this work according to strict deadlines and quality controls. Competently and safely uses a wide variety of hand held and powered tools.
  • Prioritises work-load in accordance with schedule and or supervisory instruction.
  • Carries out any other maintenance/fitting/machine operating tasks as and when required.
  • Verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications, stamp/sign route card as necessary.
  • Reports operational difficulties such as faulty machines, tool problems, material problems etc.
  • Ensures that work environment is kept clean and tidy and that material, tools, gauges and consumables are correctly stored and easily accessible.
  • The job holder will be required to do any other task, which is within their capabilities, which he/she has been trained to do and which complies with the company’s Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.

Person Specification:

Knowledge: Must be time served mechanical engineering apprentice, or educated to SVQ Level 3 in a technical skill or an equivalent engineering trade.

Skills:

Must be able to learn quickly and work on their own or as part of a team.

Experience:

Must have significant experience of industrial mechanical assembly and/or manufacturing and factory experience; beneficial - experience of working with pumps, bearings, gearboxes or valves.
