Workshop Support Technician

PowerJacks is looking for a Workshop Support Technician to fully support the daily running and maintenance of the workshop area. This is a key role for the business, actively working with a number of stakeholders.

Overview

This role, reporting directly to the Production Manager, involves working within a small team of team of machinists, fitters and warehousing staff. A key role in maintaining the smooth running, maintenance and cleanliness of a busy workshop area. The role will require the individual to be competent in forklift driving, overhead crane usage and have a current clean driving license to aid local deliveries and material pick-ups.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily:

  • Operate the forklift/crane to load/unload goods as required.
  • Deliver raw materials to and collect finished products from any area of factory using Fork Truck or other manual handling aid where appropriate.
  • Manage coolant and lubrication schedules for machine shop.
  • Waste Management activity, conformance to skip procedures and arranging uplifts.
  • Responsible for floor cleanliness, removal of material and health and safety of the walkways and passageways.
  • Complete company documents / job sheets, etc as appropriate.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed on time and accurately.
  • 5S Audits and CI Support.
  • Liaise/work with any other department as required.

Ad-hoc - As and When Required:

  • Work with third party suppliers on managing consumable stock.
  • Support the manufacturing of product – use of drills, saws, shot blasting, fettling.
  • Support both goods-in and dispatch areas as required.
  • Ensure that packaging levels are maintained and stock is re-ordered as necessary.

To be successful in this role, you will need

  • Fully competent in all standard Microsoft packages with previous experience of MRP systems.
  • Driving License.
  • Forklift and Overhead Crane Experience.
  • Experience of working in a Dispatch / Goods In environment advantageous.
  • Excellent team working skills, working effectively within a team environment and providing support to other team members during periods of high activity or absence.
  • Previous experience of working within an engineering based manufacturing environment is essential.
