Overview

Power Jacks introduced their modern apprentice scheme in 2016 in conjunction with the North East of Scotland College in Aberdeenshire, aiming to help address the skills shortages in the industry whilst providing a defined development path for individuals looking to follow a career in engineering.

Positions Available

We are looking to hire the following positions to start with the organisation immediately:

  • 3 x Mechanical and Assembly Apprentices in a mix of CNC and Mechanical Fitting
  • 1 x Business Support Apprentice

Mechanical and Assembly Apprentice

Main Purpose

  • To fully support the Machining, Assembly and Build of Power Jacks products and services while working towards a SVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Apprenticeships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learn how to check materials to ensure that sufficient raw materials are available and correct using drawings and technical specifications.
  • Learn how to fabricate and machine products from steel and other materials.
  • Follow engineering drawings and Standard Operating Procedures to assemble products.
  • Produce products with a high degree of accuracy and finish, ensuring Power Jacks quality standards are achieved.
  • Learn to identify products and components.
  • Perform stock checks.
  • Learn to identify and use correct tools for the job, use of power tools also general workshop activities.

Entrance Qualifications

To apply for the Mechanical Apprenticeships, you must have NAT 5 Pass in:

  • Mathematics
  • English
  • Science Subject
  • Technical Subject

Completed your PEO (Performing Engineering Operations).
Completed your SVQ level 2 in Mechanical Discipline.
Proven experience in a part time role is preferred (not essential).

Business Support Apprentice

Main Purpose

  • To collaborate across all operational areas, particularly procurement and logistics, to enhance business understanding, drive cost improvements, and uphold exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Procurement For “Non-Technical” Parts, Materials and Services (Stock & Non-Stock) and required Logistics (inbound and outbound).

  • Obtain & review Quotes, Place Purchase Orders (POs) and obtain PO acknowledgements from Suppliers (parts, materials and logistics).
  • Maintain PO requirements within MRP system in line with Production Schedule.
  • Regularly review POs with suppliers to ensure compliance and on schedule.
  • Track in-transit material to identify and address any potential delivery issues.
  • Work with Accounts to maintain accuracy of system costs & resolve any discrepancies.
  • Progress delivery of goods to ensure they are received on time and in good condition.
  • Produce any required customs documentation for import or export of any required goods.
  • Working closely with the Technical Buyer for procurement activities.
  • Update systems, managers & teams on latest developments & any potential issues.
  • Maintaining stock records on a regular basis.
  • Updating KPI reports on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure supplier records are maintained up to date & accurate.
  • Provide cover for Technical Buyer with assistance from Manager during periods of absence.
  • Provide cover for Supply Chain & Logistics Co-ordinator during periods of absence.
  • Other administrative tasks within the operations department as required.

Entrance Qualifications

  • Predicted Nat 5s in English, Maths, Accountancy or similar subjects
  • Good experience of working with all Microsoft Office applications
  • A strong desire to attain a professional qualification e.g. MA / SVQ 3, CIPS
  • Strong team engagement and relationship building skills
  • Driven with a hands-on approach with a solution minded outlook
