ATEX Product Marking

All certified equipment will carry the relevant ATEX / UKEX marking on its nameplate. A typical marking for a Power Jacks product will appear in the following format:

Example ATEX Marking:

II 2 G Ex h IIB T3 Gc

II = Equipment Group II (surface industries — gas atmospheres)

2 = Category 2 (suitable for Zone 1)

G = Gas atmosphere

Ex = Explosion-protected equipment

H = Protection by Constructional Safety (ISO 80079-36)

IIB = Gas group (covers a wide range of gases including ethylene)

T3 = Temperature class (maximum surface temperature 200°C)

Gc = Equipment Protection Level for Gas, Category 2

Note that for dust-rated equipment the marking would include a ‘D’ designation in place of ‘G’ and a maximum surface temperature value instead of a temperature class (e.g. T135°C for combustible dusts with an ignition temperature above 150°C).
